Land Grant GW Barnard (0-1-5)
Land Grant 21-115-4484 dated the 11th of January 1847 to George William Barnard . The total land area was one rood and five perches. This covered the land between what is now 54, 56, 58 and 60-62 High Street and included the land on which the old Post Office was built.
George Barnard had many land grants in Launceston, but this was the only one in southern Tasmania. The TE Allwright grant (0-0-20.6) is the land occupied by the Drill Hall Emporium today.
