Alfred James Henry Andrewartha was born in 1870 in Gordon, Tasmania. In 1897 he married Hannah Cowburn and they had two children. In 1902 he went into business with Alexander McGough and together they opened McGough & Andrewartha on the corner of High and Burnett Street. The business failed and closed down in 1909. Alfred died in June 1910.
