Alfred James Henry Andrewartha was born in 1870 in Gordon, Tasmania.
In 1897 he married Hannah Cowburn in New Norfolk and they had two children, a daughter and a son.
Sometime around 1895 he went into business with Alexander McGough and together they opened McGough & Andrewartha on the corner of High and Burnett Street. Sadly, the business failed and closed down in 1909.
Alfred died in June 1910 at the age of 39.
